We held our mid-term election Tuesday, November 8th, yet the count continues. Arizona count will not be finalized until Friday, November 18th. Not the fault of the poll workers, election officials, but of the state law, and the process they have to follow in counting ballots.
What’s at stake here? Simple. Control of the House, and Senate.
The Republicans thought they had full control of both chambers “in the bag”. But, the American people had different plans. They showed up to voice their opinion, in record numbers. Turnout hasn’t been this strong for a midterm election in over 40 years, so it was reported. Mail-in ballots in Georgia alone exceeded 2.5 million!
Speaking of Georgia, it’s another runoff election, but, due to the changes in the voting laws, it’s only a 4 week delay instead of the 6 weeks as before. This, they think, will cause people to miss their mail-in deadlines to return ballots. Little do they know that some of us have already called our election supervisors office to learn how soon our ballots will be in the mail to us.
Other states have delays in their counting ballots also. Nevada is one. They, like Arizona, have a specific schedule to follow.
Now, let us look at the game plan of the Republicans to change the voting laws in all of these states. They made it in Florida where observers, even from the federal government, could not be inside the polling places to observe. They were required to remain outside. Of course, Florida was a Republican clean sweep, even in Democratic strong counties. I really wonder why? Would you have expected anything any different from DeSantis and Florida Republican legislators?
Yet all of the changes didn’t stop the early voting, mail-in ballots, or the long lines at the polling stations. Amazing how the Republican plan worked so well. It was a record turnout for an election across the country!
In Florida, DeSantis pushed through getting voting districts changed to be Republican strong, eliminating the Democratic stronghold in those areas. Now, Florida isn’t a RED state. It’s BLOOD RED. It will bleed Republican for a very long time.
DeSantis is no different than Trump. They are cut from the exact same cloth. He does nothing that doesn’t affect him, or his millionaire supporters, in ways that help them achieve their goals. No matter who they hurt. Someday, hopefully, the people in Florida will wake up and smell the coffee.
Now, let’s turn out attention to the runoff election in Georgia.
Here you have a Baptist minister that was elected to the Senate two years ago. Under normal circumstances that’s not long enough for a person to make an impression one way or the other in the Senate. But, Senator Warnock has worked for the people by crossing the aisle on several legislations to get things done.
Lest I forget his opponent, Hershel Walker, an ex-football player for the University of Georgia. That’s about it on his resume, unless you want to include:
Walker never graduated from college.
Walker has a very long violent history including threatening to kill his ex-wife by shooting her. Threatening a shootout with law enforcement. Threatening his son. On and on and on.
Walker paid for not one, but two women to have Abortions. These are the ones that have come forth, so far. AND these Abortion were for women other than his wife he was married to at the time.
Do we really need a person like this in our Senate? Really? My major concern is something else with him.
Walker is there because he was, and is, supported and endorsed by Trump. That’s it. Walker is nothing more than a “YES MAN” for Trump. AND, if he happens get lucky enough to be elected, he’ll be a “YES MAN” for Mitch McConnell! Walker will accomplish absolutely nothing for the people of Georgia. He will be useless in the Senate.
When President Biden took office, for all of those that have forgotten, he had NO TRANSITION. None. No help from Trump, and Trump went as far as to make sure Biden received no transitioning assistance from any branch. None.
When President Biden took office, where were we? We had no trade agreement with any country, because Trump had abolished it. We were no longer part of NATO. Trump had pulled us out of that too. In short, Trump had removed, us and distanced us, from the rest of the world, including all of our allies. For what reason? Actually, no one knows even today, years later.
This country lost trillions of dollars because of his trade debacle. Even today, still, President Biden is STILL trying to fix the mess left him. All the while fighting inflation (caused by Trump), fighting joblessness (caused by Trump), and fighting other countries to convince them that we are back and to trust us, again (because Trump turned his back on all of them)!
Yet, listen to the people talk. ALL of our problems now are President Biden’s fault. Not hardly. He’s been busy trying to accomplish all he could for us, the people of this country, while fixing the huge mess left him by Trump.
