Former Proud Boys leader, Henry “Enrique” Tarrio, sentenced for Seditious Conspiracy for his part in the January 6, 2021 attempted coup at the Capital. Tarrio was found guilty in May of plotting to unleash political violence to prevent Congress from confirming the results of the 2020 election.
One judge called what Tarrio had done was “the tip of the spear that allowed people to end up getting into the Capitol” on January 6th. This 22 year sentence handed down today is the longest sentence yet among the over 1100 whom have been charged, and over 300 whom have been convicted, to date, of disrupting the peaceful transfer of presidential power, and other charges related to the attempted coup of our Nation’s Capital, and disrupting the counting process of Congress.
U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly said last week Tarrio, 39, broke America’s long democratic tradition of peaceful transfers of power. Tarrio was the last of five Proud Boys to be sentenced after all were convicted in May following a 15-week trial.
I’m going to close on this subject for now, but I want to add this. If we all remember, Tarrio was photographed with Donald J. Trump in the Oval Office at the White House back in 2020. These photographs have already been made public, as were seen, I believe, by the January 6th Senate Committee. They were also turned over to the DOJ, and I’m certain are included in the indictments against Donald J. Trump.
So, we need to remember that although Tarrio was NOT present at he United States Capital, he did “recruit people to join in a violent assault on the Capitol on Jan. 6 to keep Trump in power and messaged them “Don’t f---ing leave” as they (Proud Boys) led the storming of the building, causing the electoral vote count to stop for about six hours.
Judge Kelly cited that message Tuesday in his ruling that Tarrio still had a leadership role on Jan. 6, even if he wasn’t in D.C.
Tarrio denied planning an incursion into the Capitol and gave interviews after the riot saying he did not endorse that move by multiple Proud Boys, some of whom were among the first to enter the building.
The Trump trials await! IF he’s found guilty, what do you believe his sentence will be? Should be?
Now, let us turn our attention to the Georgia case a minute. As we know, a total of 19 were named in the indictment, which all 19 turned themselves in by the due date. Since their arrest, the motions have begun. Several have requested a ‘Speedy Trial’. This, I believe, was requested because they possibly feel that Prosecutor Fani Willis will not be prepared by the appointed court date of October 23, 2023.
It’s just my opinion, but I’m afraid that they are going to be really surprised at her preparation. She took over 2 years with this case. When she had the Grand Jury impaneled, she had her witnesses ready to testify before the Grand Jury. She had her evidence ready to present to the Grand Jury. So, there’s no reason that she’s not prepared to present the same to a jury in a trial. Plus, when she was ask if she could be prepared by October 23, she immediately responded “I’m prepared to try all 19 defendants right now!”
Mark Meadows has been in court the last week, which one day he was on the witness stand himself testifying, to try to get his case changed to a Federal Court instead of State of Georgia, Fulton County courtroom.
This request has been made for several reasons.
First, he wants it sent to Federal Court where he already has motions filed to dismiss the charges against him due to him “acting within the scope of his duties” as then President Donald J. Trump’s Chief of Staff.
I hate telling him this, but, I’m no attorney or legal scholar, yet I have enough brains to know that interference with an ejection isn’t within the “scope of duties of the Chief of Staff of the President of the United States”! Not even close. It isn’t within his scope of duties to travel to any county of any state to the Elections office and question them about the election, push them to “find votes”, or “promote fraudulent activity” which never occurred!
Second, having this sent to a Federal Court will change the jury pool. The jurors will be drawn from Northwestern Georgia, which is a predominately pro-Trump area. As a matter of fact, it’s Marjorie Taylor Greene’s district, which is the MAGA Capital of Georgia! So, getting the venue changed there, he feels, will be to his advantage, if it has to go to trial.
Third, and finally, it will separate him from the other 18 defendants, especially Donald J. Trump, and his band of indicted attorneys. I feel that if these motions don’t work for Mark Meadows to have his charges sent to the Federal Court and ultimately dismissed, then I expect him to “flip”, take a plea deal from Fani Willis, and turn States evidence and testify against Donald Trump, Rudi Gulliani, and a lot of the others who were in Trump’s inner circle, as Meadows was.
I’m going to be really honest about this. There’s so much going on right now with this Georgia case, it’s difficult to keep up with all the different motions happening now.
The ‘Fake Electors’ have all filed motions for dismissal on the count that they were acting as ‘Representatives of Donald Trump’, and were acting on his behalf. I hate telling them, but that soap isn’t going to turn any suds in the washing machine! As a matter of fact, the machine won’t even hold water! Look for all these motions to be thrown out. Look for these folks to also ‘flip’ and testify against Donald Trump.
Two others (Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell) have filed motions for their cases to be severed from all the other defendants. These two motions are to be heard tomorrow afternoon in the Fulton County District Court, so hopefully I’ll discuss this all tomorrow evening.
For tonight, I bid you all a good night. Stay tuned because there’s definitely more to come!
We are just getting started, folks!
I hope those convicted and sentenced will not be released at any point for “good behavior” or any such bull excrement, nor permitted to communicate with each other. Fingers crossed.🤞🏼🤞🏾
Daniel, very nice reporting here. I seem to be having less anxiety lately due to some consequences to those miscreants, finally. I just cannot fathom why anybody would want to bother w/🍊Dump when anyone he associates w/goes to jail. It is disheartening to know that there are so many Americans that hate people of color SO MUCH so that they’re willing to go to jail and even try to kidnap democrats and attempt to harm and even try to kill democrats & people of color. The underlying basis of the hatred is racism. They try cover that up by citing a bunch of excuses as to why they they are so aggrieved. This news you delivered today helps me have a little sense of relief whilst waiting for more of them to face consequences. I believe many who read your reporting will have similar feelings that I have. Thank you so much for sharing. 🥰☮️
