As a Shutdown Looms
The MAGA president has spoken, and the Speaker of the House is listening, following instructions.
Everyone is quite used to this. It’s beginning to be an event we look forward to every few months. Especially since the Republicans have taken control of the House of representatives.
First, it was with Speaker Kevin McCarthy. He at least had the brains to work across the aisle, and have a serious sit-down with President Biden and the Democratic leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
This is something that his predecessor, Speaker Johnson, hadn’t learned, or isn’t showing any desire to do. This leads to some questions.
We all know that Speaker Johnson is about as qualified for the Speakership as Donald Duck would be. He surely is acting about as intelligent as Donald Duck would be acting if he were Speaker. Andrew, with the so called “proposal” he has presented to avert a government shutdown is “ludicrous”, “non-starter”, “something never ever heard of before”, are just a few statements I’ve heard on the news networks from members of both the Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate.
Speaker Johnson discusses his “Budget Shutdown plan”
So, if Johnson can’t get the votes for this “Split Budget Plan” of his, as stupid as it is, what’s he going to do? My serious guess. This is exactly what he, and Donald Trump, want. Donald Trump wants this government shutdown. He has ordered it since January 20th. Kevin McCarthy lost his Speakership because he refused to shutdown the government.
I mentioned a bit earlier about some questions I have about the choosing the Speaker of the House of Representatives, or the leader of the Caucus of the House or the Senate. It doesn’t matter which party is in control. Some common sense should take place in the choosing of the Speaker, or Caucus leaders.
Now, before anyone jumps and says “NO, we can’t even think about setting these limits like this!” Think about it just a bit with an open mind.
To become eligible to be CONSIDERED as Speaker of the House of Representatives:
A. How long have you been a member, elected by your constituents, to represent the people?
B. How many Bills/Resolutions have you written and presented?
a. How many Bills/Resolutions have you Co-Sponsored?
C. Of all the Bills/Resolutions presented above in both (B), and (B-a), how many were beneficial to all the people of this nation, or beneficial to a certain group of people, or people in just your own constituency?
D. Are you influenced by any outside sources either by money, promises made through campaign donations, or party influence?
These are just a few questions I have in the selection of a Speaker of the House, or Caucus leader, no matter they be Republican or Democrat, in the House, or Senate. These questions need to be asked, and answered.
As far as the looming showdown. We can expect it. It’s what Speaker Johnson has been told to do by his President, and I’m not talking about President Biden.
But “Professor Duck” taught at a university!
