First, and foremost, I want to state a disclaimer about this case: although I have followed it, as best I could over the past years, I’ll be man enough to admit that I’m not part of the investigative team. I never have been. Nor do I, or ever have had, access to the investigation or any part of it.
I wanted to get that out of the way for all those that think I may have had access to something that hasn’t been reported in any way. Or that believe I’m hiding something, or whatever. Who knows what people think anymore?
Now that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business of discussing this case, and it’s comparison to that of our ex-president, Donald J. Trump.
First, Hunter Biden has been criminally charged with two (2) misdemeanor counts of failing to file his taxes. The two years he failed to do so, he reportedly made over $1 million income each year.
Second, Hunter Biden has also been Federally charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. This charge has, apparently, been negotiated in a plea arrangement where he will enter a program which will in return, at the completion of this program this charge will be dropped.
Now, the tax evasion charges. Again, it’s been reported that although Hunter Biden has been formally charged, he has paid back all, or most of all, back taxes owed by not filing these two years of tax returns. And these are MISDEMEANORS! Not Felonies. Both of these charges carry a maximum sentence of up to 12 months in jail. With the knowledge of the taxes being paid, or almost all having been paid, it’s doubtful that he will receive any lengthy time of that 12 months in jail.
Another thing that’s really important here is the fact of who was conducting this 5 year investigation into Hunter Biden. This was a Trump appointed attorney. So, I’m probably going to guess here that Hunter Biden has been put through the wringer of an investigation. I’m pretty sure, with him carrying the Biden name, that this investigation has looked under every fossil of hair on his head trying to find something, anything, to prosecute him on. Not to mention to try to find some connection of he, and his father, President Biden, of any corruption being conspired between them with a foreign government.
Of course, we are hearing a lot from the Republicans about this. Governor Ron DeSantis, GOP candidate for President, tweeted out about Hunter Biden receiving a “sweet deal”. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made comments to the news media about this investigation wasn’t over. “The House Majority will not let this end here. We will continue to investigate this matter.”
Folks, this has wasted 5 years of taxpayer dollars investigating Hunter Biden by a Trump appointed attorney. Hunter Biden was investigated for his involvement with a foreign operative, and Lord knows what else, and they actually came up with two counts of failing to file taxes, and a versions possession charge.
Seriously, after 5 years! And the House Republicans are going to continue this nonsense? Really? What the hell do they expect to uncover that 5 years of scrutiny hadn’t uncovered from an attorney and investigative team appointed by their fearless GQP Leader?
Now, I’m going to sound just like some of these Republicans that have been spouting their nonsense. This, with the Republicans has been no more than a “witch hunt”. A “colossal waste of time, and taxpayers money”.
What’s the true comparison to this case against Hunter Biden and those against Donald J. Trump?
Honestly, these cases are as different as night and day.
A. The investigation into Hunter Biden has been ongoing for over 5 years. The investigations into Donald J. Trump have been ongoing for just over 2 years. And, truthfully speaking, probably only less than 12 months. The remaining of that 2 years was spent ‘sidestepping’ or ‘avoiding’ investigating Trump himself. Let’s face it, the serious investigation into Donald J. Trump didn’t truly begin until the appointment of Smith as Special Counsel for this investigation. And if memory serves me (which is really doubtful) that appointment was made last year, about 11 months ago, or so.
B. All the 5 year investigation revealed on Hunter Biden was 2 misdemeanor charges and a gun possession charge. That’s it! The charges on Donald J. Trump, so far, are 37 felony charges of which 31 of those are associated with the Espionage Act.
C. Let’s regress a bit. Back some years, to say, 2016. Wasn’t there a tift with Trump about his releasing his tax returns, and his constant refusal to do so. And, once they were released, rebaked shocking revelations of the taxes he had, or hadn’t, paid through those years. Not to mention the ‘income’ that he claimed he had made!
Where Hunter Biden isn’t likely looking at any jail time, mostly due to the fact that the misdemeanor charges were for tax filing charges, which he’s reportedly mostly repaid all his taxes and penalties, and the gun possession charge where an addict isn’t supposed to possess a firearm. He will commit himself to a treatment program in lieu of jail time, which, I might add, is something that’s regularly done for any defendant such as him. Trump, on the other hand, has pleaded not guilty to all charges, is fighting this every step of the way, violating the courts order to keep his mouth shut, and “not discuss the case in any manner” (something all of us knew wasn’t going to happen). IF Trump is found guilty on all charges, he’s facing decades in federal prison.
Something else needing to be pointed out. Remember, there’s investigations/possible indictments coming from Georgia, which will be state charges, New Jersey, again, possible state charges, Michigan (if they are still investigating) which will be state charges, the District of Columbia, which is the other Smith-Grand Jury investigation, which is on January 6th, and will be more federal charges/indictments.
So, Trump’s woes are far from over. Whereas Hunter Biden’s are relatively done, if the judge signs off on the deal he has reached with the prosecution.

The appropriate response to the right: "Roger Stone, $2 million in tax fraud. Plea agreement."
Well and truly stated!
