McCarthy is out as Speaker. After a rather lengthy “debate”, if you want to call it a debate.
A vote was taken this afternoon and Kevin McCarthy became the first Speaker of the House of Representatives to be removed from office. So, you can officially say that the House of Representatives in shambles! I’m not really sure any of them know what they are going to do.
It was made quite clear through interviews with numerous Representatives over the weekend, and through the day, and evening, yesterday that McCarthy was going to be out, unless the Democratic Caucus decided to vote for him to remain. Early this morning, a few Democrat Representatives were interviewed and they all explained point blank that they had no intention to vote to keep McCarthy as Speaker. One Representative said “Kevin McCarthy went in national television and lied Sunday. After the vote Saturday night, where we voted to keep this government open, he went on television and stated that the Democrats were the ones that refused to vote to keep the government open. The democrats were the hold up time and time again. It was the Democrats fault that it took until right at the brink of a shutdown to get the 45 day extension passed.”
Now, I don’t know about anyone else, but I have kept a close watch on this since this all started. And that’s not the way this went down. What actually happened was that McCarthy ran out of options, went to Jeffries and the other Democratic leaders and made a deal with them to get the package through that was voted on Saturday night within an hour of shutdown. Then McCarthy went on ABC Sunday morning and blamed the Democrats because it was right down to the wire for the vote.
Listening to the Republican Representatives debate this afternoon was almost comical. I swear if I was a drinking man and able to eat popcorn, I’d been drunker than Cooder Brown, and had eaten a railroad car of popcorn!
The Representatives who were ‘praising’ McCarthy were throwing all the blame to the Democrats and to the Democratic led Senate because nothing had been accomplished since January. It has been all the Democrat Representatives, the Senate for both doing anything since January, and President Biden for not signing anything into law.
Folks, I’m not a Senate scholar but when you stab your fellow Representatives in the back, time and time again, your goose is literally cooked, you might as well say.
This afternoon, there were actually Republican Representatives calling the Democratic Representatives and begging them to vote to keep McCarthy as the Speaker of the House. Their last ditch effort didn’t work. The Democrats decided in their caucus meeting with Jeffries that they were not going to throw him a lifeline. Their summation was real simple. “The Republicans created this mess, they can fix it!”
The “YA-NA” vote ended 216 to oust, 210 to keep. There were eight Republican Representatives who voted to oust McCarthy:
Eli Crane (Ariz.)
Ken Buck (Colo.)
Andy Biggs (Ariz.)
Matt Rosendale (Mont.)
Matt Gaetz (Fla.)
Bob Good (Va.)
Nancy Mace (S.C.)
Tim Burchett (Tenn.)
Now, we are back to square one. The hunt for a new Speaker of the House.
I wonder how many votes this will take?
I wonder if these clowns know that they have 42 days to get a budget passed?
Most of all, I wonder if this bunch of Republicans are going to remember they have a job to do, and quit playing around?
Here’s a cute video I thought you might like. I saw it earlier on another post and just had to include this . It pretty well sums up this clown show!
Now, on to the other night story of the day. We move to New York, and the Trump trial.
Well, folks, it took Trump less than a day and a half to get his ass in trouble with the judge. You know, when the judge is the one listening to the evidence, and the judge is the one that’s going to make the ruling in the case, since there’s not a jury, it’s not a hit thing to piss off the judge!
As it turns out, besides Trump running his mouth every time he walked out of the courtroom and got in front of the cameras and microphones, he has the intelligence to get in his social media account and bash the judges law clerk because he had a picture of her meeting Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
He puts on his social media with the picture that they were lovers! They had been seeing each other and were in a serious relationship, and he was exposing her. The judge was biased because that was his law clerk. And of course his rant didn’t stop there. During both days, he’s in front of the cameras screaming the judge is a democrat, he’s stupid, he’s biased, the Attorney General is racist, and this is a “witch hunt”. This is “election interference”.
You know, all the other ‘normal’ stuff Trump says about the attorneys and judges in all his other cases, except the Mar-a-Lago documents judge. He hasn’t said anything derogatory about Judge Cannon.
Needless to say, the judge was totally livid. He was hot when the afternoon session began, he lit into Trump and ordered that post, and all other post to be removed from all social media immediately. He also made it extremely clear that everyone could consider this as a “gag order”. There were to be no utterances, or social media posting, or anything about his staff in any manner.
All I can say folks is this. Hold on to your saddle horns! This horse is fixing to give us an exciting ride!
My take--the Dems will offer up Hakeem--the Republicans will offer up someone odious and the seat will be vacant for a while...
Hi Daniel,
As your neighbor up north, and Friend who believes in Democracy, I am filled with aprhrehension and sadness. From what most of us up here observe, is that
The US is on the way to being taken over by a Christo Fascist Movement, who won't stop until they gain total control over The Government and apply even more draconian measures.
Sort of like Iran or Turkey
