What the Hell is the GOP Representatives Doing?
Day 17, and still no Speaker of the House. Jim Jordan has withdrawn his candidacy for Speaker. And Speaker Pro-tem is threatening to quit!
It’s been another week on Capitol Hill without a Speaker of the House of Representatives. Another day that Jim Jordan (R-OH) had to try to get his hands on that gavel. He had to try a third time to put himself above everyone else and do as his master, his dictator, the head of the GQP Trumputin Party, instructed him to do.
But, as it turned out, Jordan was denied, again. So, they went into a secluded, private, meeting this afternoon and Jordan was told, unequivocally he was not going to ever get the Speakership. So, he’s done the right thing, first once in all the years he’s been there. He withdrew his name from consideration for the Speaker.
Thank goodness!
And, another development on Capitol Hill. George Santos, or whoever he actually is, is threatening to quit if the GOP sides with the Democrats in selecting a Speaker, or in doing any governing. I hate telling this fool this, but without the Democrats, nothing will ever get done! He’s such an idiot!
By all means, Santos, quit. Go back to New York, Staten Island, or better yet, go back to Brazil.
Another development on Capitol Hill today. The 8 GQP who voted to oust Kevin McCarthy went public, on camera, today and said basically that they could be expelled, thrown out, sanctioned, whatever, if the others would allow Jim Jordan to be selected as the Speaker of the House.
I’m sorry, Gaetz and Company, but your man quit. He won’t be selected. But, you can quit and all of you go back to your respective states with your tails between your legs. You aren’t wanted here anymore.
Marjorie Taylor Greene went on camera today and said that the GOP House was totally lost. Imagine that! Your own party is totally lost, and of course she blamed the Democrats for all this.
Every single one of them are blaming the Democrats first causing all this, and the fact that they don’t have a Speaker selected, yet.
I have followed this intently every day for the last 18 days. My recollection if this is that GQP Matt Gaetz opened the discussion of ousting the Speaker of the House. He, and the 8 followers of Trump were hell bent to oust McCarthy from the Speakership. He got his wish.
Why did he push to oust McCarthy? It’s simple. McCarthy was working with the democrats to keep the government open. He hadn’t followed Trump’s instructions. He was told to “shut it down”! And he didn’t do that.
Now, I’m going to give you a scenario of what I think.
We all know, are well aware, of Trump’s legal issues. All the court cases he has before him. It’s his belief, per his own words, that if the government shuts down, he won’t be prosecuted. The Federal cases against him will then be stopped.
I hate busting his bubble. No, truly, I’m actually going crazy with excitement. But, Donnie, that’s not how this works. Your court cases will proceed as planned, government shutdown or not!
We sound have had a Speaker of the House 15 days ago, if they world have taken the offer from Jeffries and the Democratic Caucus. They made an offer to the Republicans that actually made a little bit of sense. But, Trump wants the government to be shutdown. And, as long as there’s no Speaker, it will happen. In about 29 more days. November 17th is the absolute deadline, and the Tepu Lucan’s are no closer to choosing a Speaker tonight than they were 18 days ago!
As a matter of fact, they have give home did the weekend, and are not scheduled to face a caucus meeting until Monday night, and they MAY hold a vote in chamber Tuesday, or Wednesday. Now, by my calculations, that’s 5 more days from now!
What the HELL is this bunch of lost Republicans doing?
It’s headed for disaster that’s the sure! We shall hope they implode, soon!
More to come, folks!
Any congressman or Senator that will not do his or her job and let the country go to hell for party allegiance does not deserve to hold their office. Today's Republican party, almost en masse, fit this description.
Common sense stuff, Daniel. The only way I see the House rising out of the muck and mire is for centrist Dems and GOOP to find a candidate that enough Dems would crossover and support to offset the Crazy Eights. The moderate GOOP should slip three or four of their own to Jeffries and see if any of them would be acceptable to enough Dems...probably five or six who do not plan to be back after 2024. The ones just to the left and right of center are those who will get us out of the orange quicksand.
