I, too, do absentee ballot voting. Georgia has made it so damn difficult to do now. It’s their way of trying to discourage voter turnout. Like I told the lady at the voting office on the phone. Those assholes in Atlanta that have created all this debacle do not realize that they are cutting their throats despite their rage at trying to keep their Republican power. It’s making people like me angry and I’d never, ever, vote for any of them to return to office.

And, once they offload them, make sure there’s no electricity, running water, internet, nothing. No “comforts of home”. Which, may I add, something that immigrants have been entering this nation ever since its beginning. Ohhh, lest I forget. As usual, I’m in agreement with every reflection you have on the sorry state of affairs in the United States’ current political scene. Furthermore, everything is political now and the viewpoints from the Republicans are a disgrace to the true American people and values.
Thanks, Bayjh. Yes, I hope I’ve made the right move. It just seems that everyone is all about that all American dollar. No one is willing to help anyone do anything without getting money from you. What the hell has happened to ‘helping others’? I used to do that all year long when I was in firefighting and law enforcement. We used to load our patrol cars, or fire pumpers with toys, clothes, and food, and take it around to the needy families in our district. That came out if our pocket. Not the city, county, or state. On $900 a month gross salary, $436 take home monthly, it was tough. Especially with 4 children at home myself, but we did it because we wanted to.
My husband died in Sept. of ‘22 of COVID. My sister, only 5 years older than I, has dementia and is in hospice. Without my two adult daughters still living at home with me, I would be in the same boat as you are, except without the benefit of a dedicated caregiver. Everything you’ve written here is truth, and I’ve restacked it. I hope you feel better soon, Daniel! May we conquer this evil in our midst who threatens us all.

I offered the loss of my wife in March, 2022. She suffered about 6 months from two different types of Stage 4 Cancer. Once we finally convinced her to get to a doctor, we learned she had two large masses. One in her upper right lung, the other in her chest cavity on her left side. It had broken through the chest wall and gotten into her lower abdomen by then. Both were advanced Stage 4 and were inoperable. She started chemo, but after a week or so she stopped that and all treatment. A couple months later she was put in Hospice, and passed a few days after that.
She was stubborn. She smoked all her life and refused to quit, even after I quit in 1995, I begged her to put those cancer sticks down and she refused.
Yes. I know. Although when the doctor told me if I didn’t quit he’d have to amputate my legs because they’d never heal, I ha bf why touched anything since. That was September ‘95.
It’s kinda awful to “heart” such a sad history, but you know what I mean, Daniel. I’ll think of you every day and send all my good vibes. We are two of a kind, you and I.

It would be wonderful to see a program for young folks in high school, or even beyond to volunteer a certain number of hours alongside a skilled caregiver every week. It would open their eyes to what’s really going on in parts of the world. It would also increase their level of compassion .
Not to mention their education, skills, and love for the elderly. I did that back in the sixties when I was in high school. It helped mold me into my career decision to become a law enforcement officer and firefighter.
