In attempting to contact reps on other matters, I learned as well that one must be a member of their district when offering an opinion. Or so says their detailed websites. Surely there is a national “clearinghouse “ if you will to take calls from disenchanted “consumers”, we the voters who have fools for reps. Ideas, anyone? Since the Speaker is a Christian Nationalist Fascist who takes Russian money, I would not trust him with a message. And certainly not the presidency, as he is now second in line which I find terrifying. He was also an instigator of the insurrection. My feeling is he is filling a chair waiting for the imminent government shutdown after the holidays when most folks feeling a sense of false security have spent funds they may not have if they are compromised when BUDGETS ARE NEVER PASSED. TAKE NOTICE.
Judith, you make an extremely good point. And I do hope that the folks reading this realize that yes, this government will be shut down in January, February at the latest. This is exactly what Trump wants, and, as a staunch supporter of Trump, the Speaker of the House, Johnson, will see to it that it’s shut down.
So, yes, I sincerely hope that everyone takes notice, and prepares accordingly. Plus, the blame will be laid on the Democrats. We also know that. The Republicans have a 3 Representative margin of majority. If the past Speaker, McCarthy, leaves after the holidays, that will cut their lead to two. The Republicans are now forced to work with the Democrats to get anything passed.
That helps! However, just ran across an opinion in Washington Post Opinion by Kagan from 11/30/2023 (can google)
most alarming. Rather wish I had shut it down for the night. Check it out. Trying to avoid opinions but this is lengthy and convincing, includes Project 2025. 😰
HulitC, I’m never giving up! Not by a long shot. I beg everyone to get more energized than ever before. It’s going to be a tough year ahead, but, it looks really promising. We just have a lot of work to do.
He really is! And a veteran who campaigns on his being a veteran. Yet, when tRump called them "suckers and losers", was aware of the bounties placed on soldiers' heads, etc., Gallagher remained silent! I wrote to him often asking him to speak out as a veteran and a Rep, but he didn't and I never received a reply. He was on national news recently complaining about our National RR Museum allowing a Satanic Temple's tree into their 66 tree display (displaying all religions, ethnicities, and a tree for transgender people - aghast at the fact that the RR Museum would do that and he would never take a child there. He spent time on national tv about a freaking tree because he literally had nothing to say about what he, as a WI Rep had done for the people of his district and state. Because he has done nothing! But can't go on tv and talk about his president disparaging our military - as a veteran. And again... running unopposed.
Sooner or later the Democrats in Florida will figure out that they are totally screwed if they don’t get to work. Their first battle is the voting rights. They have been stripped of them by DeSantis, the Super-Majority Legislature, and the Florida Supreme Court. It’s going to be a hell of a fight to overcome that, alone.
Next, they better come up with some good candidates. Their current head of the Democratic Party in Florida is the old Agriculture Commissioner. She can get a lot done if the people are willing to let her lead them, and work extra hard to get things accomplished. If they don’t, she may as well quit and go to a state where she can do some good.
Third, it’s going to take the people rising up and telling their elected officials that the days of being run over are finished. If they don’t take that state back, they can build a wall between it and Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. It will be a country all in its own.
My representative, Mike Gallagher is running unopposed - again! It's frustrating because yes, we live in a red district but we can't ever change that if the DCCC doesn't even try to get Dem candidates to run. And yes, after the vote when the votes were finalized and the listing was published, I contacted him via email and said once again - you put party over country. It's shameful! Not something new for Gallagher!
Ohhh yes, Dancing Fox. The Republicans will have a field day with it. But, bottom line is simple. That fraudster should not have ever been sworn in. All this lies on McCarthy’s shoulders. He should have done the right thing in January and refused to swear him in. He was greedy, not adhering to the rules, instead of looking at the majority vote hold.
Yes, but it takes a 2/3 majority vote which meant at least 80 Republicans had to join all the Democrats to oust this clown. With each Democrat that didn’t vote it meant one more Republican had to vote to oust him.
I have to admit, I watched that “live” on MSNBC, and it was something to see. Especially when he realized he was screwed. He shook a couple hands and walked out before the final tally was complete. The Sergeant at Arms had to chase after him to escort him out of the building!
Ohhh HELL YES!!! That bastard hadn’t even driven away before the screwdriver was on his door lock and his name already removed from the wall outside his office. Now, THAT was special!

Yesterday Robert Hubbell had a great piece about this article. Kagan raises real issues but his defeatist attitude is wrong.
Simon Rosenberg points out that Dems are doing better than Repubs at this moment in time. Don’t despair! We haven’t given up yet!!

I know you won’t Daniel!
I wrote that as part of what Simon says (& because so many people commented that the Kagan article made them despair. )
I’ll check it out, Judith. Thanks for sharing!
Read Robert Hubbell’s post from yesterday first…

Yes. Mike Gallagher is scum of the earth. Always has been. Now, he’s a sheep for Trump!
A vote for Stephen Houlahan RN in the 48th district is a vote AGAINST Darrell Issa
