The devolution of American decency is reflected in the salacious story of Trump!

Yes, it is, Bayjh. And what a story it is. I wish I could live long enough to see what hits the history books about him, his presidency, and all this ‘aftermath’ he’s created.

Or perhaps the GOPQ formerly known as the Republican Party.

You can bet there will be plenty written in the books about this new GQP Trumpublican Party. They are making new chapters every day!

Jen, my dear lady, we are experiencing new lows every single day.

Right???? Every time I think we MUST have hit bottom, they drag out a shovel and dig a deeper trench of corruption and vileness. Digging their way to hell, methinks???? The problem is that they want to drag us down with them.

That’s not going to happen, if I can help it. Just because I’m old and crippled as hell doesn’t mean I have given up the fight.

We truly are in this together! The reason I value your words so much is because truth has become such a rare commodity. No need to peel back layers of blah blah to get to the core-it’s a huge deal.

And no-no relation. I’m originally from Philly-maiden name Schaible-my former husband was a Schaefer from New York. Settled in Sarasota County for job and family. I’d move back to the northeast in a heartbeat, but my daughters and grandkids are here-they are my heart!

Great to hear. It’s a shame you and your family are still in Florida. Land of DeStupid, the right forefinger of Frumpy!

I was just wondering. I lived in DeSoto County, and was in law enforcement and firefighting there for years, until the doctors forced me to give it all up in 1995. The Schaefer’s were really good friends of mine. I moved away from there over 6 years ago now. A. I got tired of DeStupid. I saw the direction the state was going. And B. I had to get to some cheaper air. It had gotten where I was having a really difficult time breathing. The doctor told me I needed to find someplace to get with at least seasons where the air changed. Now I live here in SW GA. I at least have 4 seasons, but if/worn I move, I’m headed to the mountains someplace where I can get in a cabin and just stay there on the top of the mountain until I croak.

Jen, my dad raised me to never lie to anyone. I went through that stage when I was young, living at home. And there were numerous times I ended up having several layers of my hide removed by my dad because I had lied. That broke me. I couldn’t lie now if I tried. Plus, I lose all respect further someone that lies, cheats, steals, abusive to women or children. Turns my stomach. My nickname on the department was “Taz”. Whenever I was sent to a domestic call, if I was sent, I always had a supervisor there because I was known to ‘lose it’s if there had been any abuse on the woman or children. I would hurt somebody over that!

You’ve had an amazing career, Daniel.im sure you changed lives.

My daughter has worked in law enforcement -probation department-for about eight years. After graduating from Fla Southern with a degree in criminology, she attended the police academy in Tally. She works with felony offenders, as well as doing home and prison searches, in and out of office interviews, court testimony, etc. She’s part of a pilot program for body cams, too. I’m really so proud of her. She has a great team in her office, too. I volunteer with the fccd group quarterly-such great folks! When she’s able to get an offender to find a different path after they served their time-it’s a true life changer!

I have another daughter in education in Monroe county-key west. She is in administration, tasked with overseeing special needs. My third daughter is a nurse administrator, overseeing home healthcare after people are released from the hospital. Again, I’m really so proud of them-they care about other people-they are good humans-and know that voting for Biden is the only option for themselves, their kids, and the future of our country.

Watching the changes in Fla during Rick Scott’s and now Desantis’ administrations, I really don’t recognize the state or my county anymore. Mike Flynn is actively trying to dismantle the Saratoga Memorial hospital board. Bridget Ziegler and the Moms for Liberty have corrupted th e school board and are working hard to create chaos and pain for students and staff. It’s a mess with no change in sight-Desantis just keeps doubling down on his fascistic tactics. Sigh. I’m a blue dot in a very Red Sea.

Reading your page plus Professor Richardson’s, Robert Reich’s, Jay Kuo’s, and more during my off time keeps me half-way sane. It’s a dose of reality in the midst of Florida dystopia!

Jen, you have raised an amazing group of ladies! I can tell you are extremely proud of them, and their life choices. You should be. They are the future of this nation. Hopefully, there’s a lot more like them.

DeStupid has done his level best to get that state as his ‘kingdom’. He managed to gerrymander the voting districts where he has a majority Republican legislature, and it appears that he’s trying to do his best to keep it that way for the foreseeable future. He has stacked the state Supreme Court where they vote for everything that he wants.

Yes, he has also ruined the total scope of education in that state. There’s no way in hell I would allow any of my children to go to school in Florida, at any grade level. They wouldn’t learn American history, about the Civil War, nothing. They would be taught Communism instead. And, and teachers, professors, instructors, caught deviating from his curriculum he wants taught is facing immediate imprisonment for up to 5 years! That’s insane!

DeStupid has these groups working with him, because he has put people in place that will do what he says. He even has done that with Disney! That’s a company I wish would close up and move out of Florida, just to spite DeStupid. That would bankrupt Florida. The tax dollars they would lose, tourism dollars lost, would turn that state upside down. But, it would serve him right. He needs to learn that even wearing his fake high heeled boots, you can’t push people, corporations, around.

What DeStupid, Rick Scott, and all of them need us a good old fashioned ‘trip out behind the barn’! If you catch my drift!

I have a daughter in law enforcement in Sarasota County. Thanks for your service, Daniel.

Your name for Desantis makes me laugh. He’s just a ridiculous self-promoter who desperately wants to be a dictator. His creation of the state guard is horrifying-not to mention the damage he is wreaking on the educational system, the healthcare system, and more. My kids are just entrenched in careers, so as I look forward to retirement in the next year, I don’t imagine anyone leaving -they are here and I need them in my life.

As for yearning for trees and fresh air, I hope you get that. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in the Smokies as well as along the Blue Ridge -you can really breathe in those areas-and it’s not all that far from where you are now.

Sounds like we had similar dads. Mine was born here, whisked by my immigrant grandparents back to Germany from 1935-1938, then brought back because Hitler’s threat extended to my grandmother’s religious community-die Gemeindebrueder. My grandfather was Lutheran, achores everything Hitler stood for, but recognized the threat when he was forced to attend a rally in Stuttgart and felt compelled by the masses to raise his arm in salute. They booked tickets back to the States on the Bremen in the following days.

Truth mattered to my dad and my mom and that was conveyed to my brother and me. I am just constantly shocked and dismayed, and frankly, disgusted, by the extreme idiocy of MAGA. I remember driving home from church on Easter Sunday, after hearing all about love, and ending up behind a pickup with a decal reading: Even my dog hates Biden. Slapped the church right out of me-glorifying hatred. I just don’t get it-and I hope I never do. That’s why your words matter-truth needs to be louder and bolder than the incessant MAGA lies. They want to murder democracy. We cannot let that happen.

WOW, Jen! How long has your daughter been with SCSO? What does she do with them?

I started with DCSO in 1981 to 1983, and was with the FLDOC as a sergeant until September 1995. I worked the road with the county, but the sheriff got his ass cut in the election director his being a bastard, and a cheater who got caught. He fired two of us, made self and one of the dispatchers. She refused his advances, and I refused to put up with his abusive behavior and bullshit. Afyer I was fired, my phone was ringing when I hit home from the Department of Corrections. I was with them prior to going to the DCSO, and they begged me to come back. So I did, a few years after that I was ironies to sergeant. They had me going around the state opening up the Close Management Units in the larger institutions. They held the worse of the worst inmates on the compound. If they couldn’t live in the CM, they were transferred to Raford, usually with additional outside charges, and were remanded to total lockdown. I did a lot of training also, especially since I was a federal certified instructor in about every aspect of law enforcement. I taught several firearms classes at SCSO. I had a lot of fun in my career, and miss it dearly. Met a hell of a lot of people around the state, and gained what I felt were a lot if friends. Most all are gone now, but we had good times back in the day.

If MTG were smart, she’d shut her mouth. However, that’s not the case! Northwest Georgia open your eyes!

Anthony, she doesn’t know how to shut her mouth! She’s an idiot! Hopefully, and this is a big thought, she has buried her political career. Hopefully, her constituents in her area have ‘seen the light, and the error of their ways’, so to speak!

I know one thing, I live in Georgia, but not in her district. That’s not going to stop me from trying to get her voted out of office!!!

My friends in her district despise her! Hopefully, that will spread throughout the district! But, MAGA isn’t known for intelligent decisions!

No, they aren’t, Anthony. MAGA are definitely thin skinned, narrow minded, and definitely not focused on the ‘kitchen table’ issues.

One thing I do agree with is that his actions are completely indefensible! Her testimony reinforces the reason he paid her off - to keep her from telling her story for fear it would damage his campaign! So, he and his cohorts cooked the books! Hopefully, it’s already damaging his 2024 campaign!

Anthony, I can’t wait to see what the defense tries to do with her today. I do believe these two attorneys have bitten off more than they can chew. They have already admitted they had no defense for the testimony she’d given, begging for a dismissal, which was rapidly turned down!

Dan Boy, “getting juicy”? There’s so much fruit hitting the juicer that America might run out of receptacles trying to contain it.

You said it, Rally Guy! Either a shortage of receptacles or a shortage of ‘fruit’ to juice! I might add, seems he’s suffering from ‘shortage of fruit’ since she passed out ‘during the act’!!

Agreed-all of it. My biggest concern is his “state Guard” that he has weaponized and their recruiting brochure assures them that they will “be a part of history”. What on earth can that mean-except something horrible???? They train at Camp Blanding, and stories from those who have left are terrifying. I fear he will call on them to intimidate voters, along with his Proud Boys and Moms for Liberty buddies.

I’m sickened, too, that Congressional members are not doing their jobs, but are, instead, attending Trump’s trial and acting as his surrogates to violate the gag orders. The threat is increasing from all sides. Not just for Florida, but for the nation. If Trump is elected, we will become Nazi Germany American style. No one who speaks truth will be safe.

You take care of yourself, ok? Writing here could hurt you. Please take care.

Ohhh, my dear Jen. One person that’s not worried about DeStupid, or Frumpy, is me. They can’t possibly throw anything at me I haven’t seen, or dealt with, before. Im way too old to be sweating the likes of that trash, or any of their goon cultist.

After over 27 years in law enforcement, plus all the extra instruction I had to go through to be on the squads I was a part of, it would behoove them to stay the f*** away from me. As now, I’m 72 years young, widowed, and don’t have a damn thing left to my name, so I have nothing to lose. My patience is razor thin, and as I was 45 or more years ago, my tolerance of bullshit, especially from the likes of that bunch of morons, is thinner than it’s ever been. Hopefully, they’ll stay where they are. It would be their best bet for remaining among the living, anyway.

You are extremely correct about all you had to say here though. A. They are dangerous. B. They are not looking to lose, even if they have to get Putin to help them win as he did in 2016. C. IF frumpy goes back in office, we will lose our democracy, constitution, and the rest if our freedoms. He will be a dictator from day one. He’s said so himself.

As for DeStupid, I look for him to be part of Trumputin’s cabinet. With everything he’s done to Florida, they want all states modeled after it, so look for DeStupid to be the head of that conversion operation.

I’m laughing! I totally get the “trip behind the barn” and you are not wrong! I just look forward to the day when he is gone-although I have some concern that he will change the state Constitution as he did with the portion that forbade him from running for another office while serving as Governor, allowing him to run for more terms. The supermajority is ruining the state-not caring about the greedflation, the attack on our educational and health systems, the deterioration of society with the ugly behavior so normalized by the previous President. Desantis is counting on the murder of democracy, as are the rest of the GOP-and I only hope that decent citizens who honor our constitution and the rule of law will rise up against these fascistic dictator wannabes.

Expand full comment

You better hope his wife doesn’t go in that office. And, also hope that the voters if that state have come to their senses. That super-majority legislature and Trumpublican governor has all but ruined Florida, as it has Alabama, and Texas.

They’re not allowed to teach American history, but they are trying to get Communism taught instead. They can’t teach, or mention, slavery, civil war, or anything having to do with it. If they get caught violating the law, they will go to prison minimum of 5 years, and lose their teaching license.

DeStupid h ruined that state! And what’s worse, the Democratic Party is going to have to work harder than ever before to get people to the polls, have them vote, and make sure their vote is counted. DeStupid and his band of misfits gave gerrymandered the voting districts to suit the Republican Party.

OMG, I damn near fell out of my wheelchair laughing so hard! How right you are, SDBitierRedux… It’s a total shame a good worm was wasted eating that mass he calls his brain! But, does this explain how/why he’s turned so ‘Trumpian’?

He’s against vaccinations.

He’s against hell for Ukraine and our allies.

He’s against us being part of NATO.

He’s against us having trade agreements with other nations.

He’s bowed and kissed the ring of his King.

And, most of all, he doesn’t have the support of ANY of the Kennedy family .

RFK, Jr has basically followed in the footsteps of DJT. Why? What does he think this will get him? He can’t even raise enough money to get in the ballot of every state. Is his purpose to get Trump elected, by only getting in the ballot in the ‘swing states’ to try to throw the vote to Trump because he feels people don’t want to vote for Biden?

What the hell is this clown 🤡 thinking?
