Yes, ever since Republicans took office after Kennedy. Hell, his predecessor, L. B. Johnson, was put in office through the coercive actions of his wife in getting Kennedy killed. But, that’s a whole different story.
As for different governments, we need to get back to the Democratic government that we had decades ago, and stick with it. Put things/laws in order have to block people like Trump ever from getting close to a power position, of any kind.
Not only that, these next elections will be the “make or break” for our democracy, our Constitution, our freedoms as we now know them, and the future of following generations of Americans.
Tim Scott won’t admit that he’s gay, DeSantis won’t own his slight stature, Vivek is a showboat/snake oil salesman...which leaves Nikki and Chris. At least Chris lays it on the line about Trump’s unfitness.
Exactly. Those are the only two, to me, that have demonstrated any common sense at all, with the exception that Niki Haley says that she would support Trump if he’s the nominee, no matter what. That’s a non-starter for me. That leave Christie.
A lot can happen between now and next year for sure, and I hope Democrats in Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio take heart from their victories this week. It just makes me nervous that so many people have assault weapons and might be tempted to use them if things don't go their way.
progwoman, you have just cause for this worry. As you are worried about these idiots who have these assault weapons, I too worry about that. These are the very people who do Trumputin’s bidding. They listen to every word he says and carry out what he says to do.
We already know that he has peopke in the law enforcement, military, and other areas where they can attack on a moments notice. That’s already known. So, yes, we have just cause to worry. January 6th, as they said, was a “practice run”!
Hey there Daniel. I know you actively seek more followers as any self-respecting Substack writer would. Do you ever throw in a comment on GoComics? It would be a simple cut and paste from your columns in many instances.
Certain toons generate a lot of sparring with MAGAts as well as reaffirmations among the sane and democracy-loving of us. Just be careful how you promote yourself so you don’t get flagged and have your comments removed. You could use a different handle when creating the account to maintain anonymity and occasionally when you post refer to Daniel Cooper’s column on Substack.
Thanks for the suggestion, Rally Guy. No, honestly I haven’t promoted my writing outside Substack at all. I just put thus one on “X” to give it a whirl.
The insanity of today’s Republican Party is clinical... schizoid or schizophrenic... and the intelligence of the GOP is subpar...
Exactly!
100/100
Start thinking of alternative governments, as this one has slowly been trashed since 1963.

This vote is our most important weapon. We must cling to it and use it.
Not only that, these next elections will be the “make or break” for our democracy, our Constitution, our freedoms as we now know them, and the future of following generations of Americans.
He doesn’t pander to the Christian fascists, so he won’t get anywhere.
Nope. So, therefore, the logical choice here is to back, support, and most of all, VOTE BLUE💙💙💙💙because there’s n logical choice anywhere rose!

I’ll check out GoComics. Thanks again!
